Could you please provide me with some additional guidance as to how to conduct an age regression with a client that I will be seeing that has been raped. If this does come up in AR I assume that I want her to revivify it. I know some hypnotists that are not trained in 5 Path suggest to the client that they are in a movie theater behind a protective glass and are watching what happens .
Do you let the client explain in detail what is happening to bring up the feelings?
Thanks for your question. We might use it in an upcoming video. Let me know if we can use your name for providing the questions.
First I should say that no one should do age regression work without being properly trained, and that these videos alone are no substitute for proper training and experience. Now on to your good question…
There are two ways to conduct an age regression. One is the associated state and the other is the disassociated state. In the associated state the individual is reliving (revivifying) the event as it happened. The disassociated state is different in that the client is watching it from the perspective of the adult aspect of him or herself safe in my office.
The associated state is important, and is the best way to do an age regression in most cases because it tends to provide better information about what was happening, including what they were thinking and feeling, which is so important. Make sure you check out my videos on the 10 Keys To
Doing Age Regression here on this site and learn about the five questions you need to ask your regressed clients.
In the case of a rape or most any terrifying or very painful experience I will have my clients switch to the disassociated state so it is not so terrifying or painful.
To do this I just say that "you are now the Grownup here in my office reporting what is happening". It is that easy to switch clients to the disassociated state. This is impart because they want to get away from the fear and pain.
You have to make the call. If the event was not too terrifying or painful you may want to keep your client in the associated state because the information we want to get from the event tends, in my experience, to be more accurate.
Hi Brenda and Cal! Thank you for this excellent series on using hypnosis with victims of sexual assault and abuse. It's great to know what to expect and helps a relatively new 5-PATH hypnotist like myself be more confident in dealing with these issues with greater skill and knowledge. Thanks again!
