Hi Cal, I did the age regression session but I kept seeing things that didn't happen and needed two sessions...is this normal?? I'm worried that it didn't work. Also, if I've had 4 sessions of hypnotherapy should I be feeling better (I have depression and anxiety)?
Thanks for your question. I’m teaching a class right now but I have a few minutes of break time, so I’ll see if I can “bang out” a quick answer for you.
How you “should” be feeling right now depends on many factors.
Here are some factors that involve you:
1. How complicated your problem is.
2. The intensity of the emotions related to the issue.
3. How insightful you are.
4. How compliant you are.
5. How invested in overcoming the problem you are.
Here are some factors that involve the hypnotist:
1. How experienced the hypnotist is.
2. How much training the individual has had.
3. The style or approach that the hypnotist is using.
It is complicated, and it probably needs more space than I can give it here, but here goes. When you say, “I kept seeing things that didn’t happen” this can be a good thing or a bad thing. It can be bad if you hypnotist is suggesting things happened that didn’t happen. It can be good if your subconscious mind is giving you things to see that are useful to the hypnotist and you to work with. Sometimes the mind will come up with metaphorical situations that can be used in hypnotherapy. But the hypnotist would have to know how to work with such things.
You are wondering if the regression worked. I cannot say from what I know, judging by what you wrote. Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. In that case you can feel badly, but the regression is working and you are simply “in process”. It boils down to whether you think the hypnotist that you are working with is doing what is needed to get you through the process, and whether or not you are doing what you need to do to get through the process.
If you are not doing everything you can to cooperate with the hypnotist in your experience in hypnotherapy, then you need to starting doing what you need to do. This would mean that you need to be completely compliant, and giving it your best honest effort holding nothing back.
If you believe that the hypnotist is not up to the task then you need to seek services elsewhere.
